Today, the Union launches a comprehensive Training and Education website, unioncourses.org, to provide an accessible, central resource for healthcare professionals to easily access the full range of courses that The Union has to offer.

Today, the Union launches a comprehensive Training and Education website, unioncourses.org, to provide one central resource for clinicians, programme managers and other healthcare professionals to easily access the full range of courses that The Union has to offer.

A key part of The Union’s mission to advance solutions to public health challenges affecting people living in poverty, is offering courses that build technical expertise, management skills and research capacity.

Talking about the new site, Marianne Gaye-Ayrault, Interim Vice-President of The Union’s Training and Education department said, “Education is one of the three pillars underpinning The Union’s approach. It is an essential part of strengthening systems in the countries where we work.

“With this new website, the Training and Education Department unites the broad and varied range of courses that the Union provides. Making it easier for public health professionals to acquire the high quality education services The Union offers.”

For over 30 years, clinicians and managers have turned to The Union to learn fundamental skills and the latest best practices. Since 2000, The Union’s courses have helped 11,000 healthcare professionals from 95 countries build new clinical, research and management skills.

The Union’s courses enable healthcare professionals to develop and strengthen their knowledge and skills, in order to provide quality care for patients. Our training courses address both public health management training, and training in the management and treatment of tuberculosis (TB), multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB), TB-HIV and tobacco control.

To help countries improve the management of health programmes, The Union has designed a series of courses that address challenges faced by national programme managers and healthcare administrators in limited-resource settings.

The Union's International Management Development Programme (IMDP) strengthens health systems by training health professionals in the specific management competencies that are essential for health care programmes to provide quality care for patients.

Since it was established by The Union’s Executive Director, José Luis Castro, in 2001, the IMDP has trained more than 4,000 managers from 30 countries, strengthening 150 NGOs and 28 ministries of health.

The Union’s clinical and operational management courses cover clinical and programmatic aspects of TB, MDR-TB, TB-HIV and tobacco control..

These courses support health practitioners and policy makers in implementing public health programmes that provide quality diagnosis, treatment and care for patients with TB. They also train health professionals to record, report, monitor and evaluate these services.
