This year’s Union North America Region Conference in Boston included a custom-designed workshop offered by the International Management Development Programme (IMDP) on 'Maximizing the Impact of Public Health Messages'.

The half-day workshop introduced participants to techniques from developing a strategic communication plan to using social media as part of their public health communication campaigns.

Participants came from US and Canadian public health departments, universities, scientific institutes and professional associations, as well as from international organisations, such as the World Health Organization. One participant came all the way from Rwanda to attend the workshop and conference.

Held on 26 February, the workshop was designed as pre-conference option for those attending the 18th Conference of The Union North America Region in Boston, Massachusetts on 27 February to 2 March 2014. Organised by The Union’s IMDP, the CNE/CME certified training was facilitated by Sandra Mullin and Jorge Alday, IMDP faculty members from the World Lung Foundation.
