The Union and the European Respiratory Society (ERS) are offering a 12-month fellowship in respiratory infections to build capacity in the area of respiratory epidemiological public health, and population-based research. The fellowship will be based at The Union’s office in New Delhi, India and will provide somebody at the start of their career with an opportunity to gain know-how, exposure and experience of population-based research, allowing them to further their career in the field.
The fellowship will specifically work within The Union’s Project Axshya. Implemented by the Union’s South East Asia Office and funded by the Global Fund, this project is being rolled out in 128 districts across 14 states in order to increase the visibility and improve accessibility of TB services, with special focus on marginalised and vulnerable communities who are at most at risk of developing TB. The project’s key objective focuses on early case detection through active case finding among high-risk population groups.
The successful candidate will observe active case finding interventions in three districts, identify gaps and propose ways to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the strategies. In addition, the fellow will design and implement an operational research study to document the epidemiological impact of the interventions on the overall TB control in the three districts covered.
