On Universal Health Care (UHC) Day, 12 December, The Union is holding a webinar which will bring together experts to discuss how UHC (ensuring that all can access the quality health services they need without financial hardship) can accelerate progress toward not only ending tuberculosis (TB) but also averting premature deaths from non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

UHC is a fundamental component of the strategy for governments to achieve their commitments to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for health. At the 70th World Health Assembly earlier this year, governments and other partners reinforced their promise to work together with renewed urgency to achieve UHC by 2030.

The webinar will take place at 1pm - 2pm Geneva time, Tuesday 12 December.

The expert panel will include:

  • Dr Kerri Viney, Sidney Sax Post-doctoral Research Fellow, Department of Public Health Sciences, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden; Chair of Australasian TB Forum
  • Gini Williams, International Council of Nurses, and member of the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union).
  • Dr Rajesh Kumar Sood, District Programme Officer at National Health Mission, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Himachal Pradesh, India.
