Students find mentors and colleagues as Union members

Updated:

For people at the start of their careers, mentors play an extremely important role in providing inspiration, guidance and support.  Access to a stimulating and diverse group of colleagues is also key to developing a strong network and gaining the experiences and perspectives that will help them define their professional goals.

Joining The Union is an excellent way to build both of these kinds of relationships, and the student member category was designed to encourage the participation of young professionals from a wide variety of public health fields. Anyone under 35 and in training may qualify for this category, which offers all the benefits of individual online membership for only 20 euros for one year/40 euros for two years.

Student members can connect with mentors and colleagues in a variety of ways:

  • Become active in Union region activities, including planning region conferences
  • Become active in the Scientific Section, Sub-Section and/or Working Groups, which involves opportunities to work with colleagues who share your interests
  • Participate in the online Member Network
  • Attend a Union region or international conference

At the World Conference in Barcelona, The Union will host the first Student Networking Forum in The Union Village (Hall 031) on Friday, 31 October, 18:00-19:00.  This will be an excellent opportunity to meet The Union experts who will be on hand, as well as other delegates attending the conference.
