Registration and submissions now open for the 17th World Conference on Tobacco or Health

To mark World No Tobacco Day, discounted early registration for the 17th World Conference on Tobacco or Health (WCTOH) is now open. The submission period for scientific sessions also opens today, with a deadline of 14 July 2017 for abstracts, symposia and workshops.

WCTOH will be held from 7-9 March 2018 in Cape Town, South Africa with the theme ‘Uniting the World for a Tobacco Free Generation’. It will bring together researchers, academics, non-governmental organisations, civil society, scientists, healthcare professionals and public officials working on all aspects of tobacco control from more than 100 countries.

Held every three years, WCOTH is the world’s premiere international tobacco control conference. Convened by the Advisory Board for WCTOH, the Cape Town Consortium and the Conference Secretariat, The Union, the WCTOH is a call for a collective resolution to fight tobacco by working together and integrating tobacco control into our health and development goal

The conference format will include plenary speakers, symposia, posters, workshops and post-graduate courses on the many aspects of the tobacco epidemic and will highlight the efforts being made to control it through the WHO FCTC and MPOWER.

Submissions are invited for:

  • Abstracts of original research for oral or poster presentations, which will be reviewed by the International Board of Reviewers.
  • Proposals for symposia and workshops
  • Satellite sessions which will be scheduled outside the core programme hours

Submissions will be accepted until all available time slots are filled, so organisations are encouraged to submit their proposals early.
