Kraig Klaudt: In memoriam

Updated:

The Union mourns the passing of Kraig Klaudt. He was a leading advocate and visionary in the fight to end TB and other killers, and his efforts over many years have left a lasting impact on global public health.

Kraig was instrumental in popularising the concept of DOTS through the creation of the DOTS brand, which for years served as the identify for TB care efforts all over the world. He later helped conceptualise the MPOWER policies, which are used today by WHO to promote tobacco control policies worldwide.

Kraig served The Union in various capacities over the years, including advising our senior leadership. He played an integral role in the promotion of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria when the organisation was just getting off the ground, and he was a founder of the global health advocacy network ACTION. He supported and advised global health leaders around the world, and he always did so with unique creativity and a courageous drive.

Our thoughts are with Kraig’s family, friends and numerous colleagues around the world. He will be greatly missed.
