Russia celebrated its first full year with a national smokefree law for all public places. New compliance data was released and shared at WNTD events. It revealed that levels remain high, [more than 90 percent], and levels of public support also remain high, at around 80 percent. The new data was gathered as stipulated in the Union's Smokefree Compliance Guide.

In partnership with the Ministry of Health, The Union organised and participated in several WNTD events including a national Tobacco or Health Forum and a two-day conference on ‘Effective approaches to behavioural change and policy implementation for Tobacco Control’. Opportunities to develop tobacco control programmes were identified, and experience on effective smokefree implementation and approaches to cessation were also shared.
