22nd Conference of The Union North America Region to assemble top TB experts from Western Hemisphere

The conference will be held from 28 February to 3 March 2018 in Chicago, and will feature speakers from organisations including WHO, Stop TB Partnership, The Union, TB Alliance, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The 22nd Annual Conference of The Union North America Region will bring together tuberculosis (TB) advocates, survivors, scientists, clinicians and programme managers from across the Western Hemisphere to learn about and share the latest research in TB prevention and treatment. The conference will be held from 28 February to 3 March 2018 in Chicago, and will feature speakers from organisations including the World Health Organization, Stop TB Partnership, The Union, TB Alliance, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as academic and research institutions, departments of health and advocacy groups.

This year’s agenda includes keynote addresses by renowned climate scientist Dr Donald Wuebbles of the University of Illinois, Urbana, and TB researcher Dr Philip C Hopewell of the Curry International TB Center, San Francisco.

The programme features sessions on whole genome sequencing in TB diagnostics, the impacts of non-communicable diseases on TB treatment and management and an update on the STREAM clinical trial’s use of community engagement to strengthen research implementation. It will also include several sessions on childhood TB, latent TB infection and effective communications techniques for TB control.
