The Lung Health Department focuses on child lung health, asthma and smoking cessation as well as other international initiatives related to promoting lung health. The Asthma Division focuses on improving asthma management in low- and middle-income countries, using the framework developed by The Union for the delivery of tuberculosis services as the model for the delivery of asthma care. The Division has also developed an operational research programme to evaluate and sustain actions and practices.

The Child Lung Health Division is developing a method for delivering health services in low-income countries (primarily sub-Saharan Africa) to care for children under Five with acute respiratory infections, primarily severe/very severe pneumonia; as well as tuberculosis, HIV-related lung disease and asthma.
