The Union has worked closely with national tuberculosis programmes in francophone Africa for nearly three decades. Funding from the Agence Française de Développment (AFD) supports a range of activities, including long-term and short-term technical assistance, courses and workshops offered in French, technical guides and other resource materials in French and The Union's French-language website.
In 2012 The Union provided technical assistance to Benin, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ivory Coast, Madagascar and Togo. In addition, The Union offered intensive residential courses in tuberculosis control and management skills in collaboration with The Union Collaborating Centre, Centre Hospitalier de Pneumo-phtisiologie de Cotonou and the Benin National Tuberculosis Programme.
