The scope of The Union's technical courses has expanded to meet the changing needs of today's health care professionals and public health programmes. While thorough training in the prevention, treatment and control of tuberculosis continues to be one of The Union's strengths, other courses address specific skills needed for management of MDR-TB, tobacco control, operational research, child lung health management, TB/HIV collaborative programmes and more
The primary objective of this course is to provide clinicians working in low income settings with the knowledge and skills to effectively manage cases of drug-resistant tuberculosis, especially MDR-TB. The course will also introduce participants to the challenges introduced by XDR-TB.
The 5-day intensive training course consists of interactive in-class presentations, discussions and practical exercises offered by internationally renowned tuberculosis experts, aiming to strengthen participants’ capacity in clinical and programmatic management of drug-resistant TB.
