Operational research is an essential component of IHC. Research to study barriers to the implementation of TB-HIV services in communities, patients, health care providers and health systems, has been carried out in Uganda. The results identified barriers at all levels of implementation of TB-HIV collaborative services including within the health system, at the health facility and at the patients and community level. These results highlight the fact that such barriers exist at all levels of implementation and recommend that policy makers and implementers work together to ensure a comprehensive approach to addressing them.
