Education
Education is an important element of the HIV Department, not only for its growing team of specialists and consultants, based in Paris, Myanmar, Uganda, DRC and Zimbabwe, but also for all categories of health personnel participating in IHC.
The Union has developed a procedural manual for collaborative TB/HIV activities, which is currently being tested amongst health staff working at the pilot sites in the partner countries.
In conjunction with the funding from USAID, and in collaboration with the Ugandan National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Programme and the National AIDS Control Programme, The Union developed the first joint TB and HIV Programme Managers Course which was held in Jinja, Uganda, in March 2008. The course programme is to be rolled out at national level and to be adapted and adopted by other countries.
In addition, Union HIV experts attend international conferences, run workshops, graduate courses, poster sessions and hold symposia at The Union’s World Conference on Lung Health.
