The Union South-East Asia Office Planning for The Union’s first regional office began in 2003, and the India Resource Centre (IRC) opened in New Delhi in March 2004. With an initial staff of two consultants, the IRC served as an education resource centre and supported a variety of Union activities in the region from procurement and publishing to establishing contacts with local and national governments. As the needs of The Union increased, the office expanded. The Union South-East Asia Office now employs more than 40 staff and technical consultants. It serves as the focal point for administering the tobacco and tuberculosis management courses and also coordinates tobacco control activities in the region. The Union Myanmar Country Office The Union has been working with the Ministry of Health in Myanmar since 2002 when it audited its national TB programme. In order to scale up TB and HIV control and to pilot test its Integrated HIV Care for Tuberculosis Patients Living with HIV/AIDS (IHC) programme, The Union opened an office in Mandalay. In 2005, Myanmar became one of the first countries to implement the IHC Programme. Region Officers Chairman NATAB Mr Mzaffar Hossain Paltu This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
