Iranian National TB Day was held on 14 October 2010 .This one day congress on the theme of “TB in Children “was organised by the Pediatric Respiratory Disease Research Center in NRITLD , the Iranian Minster of Health (CDC office) and Iranian Stop TB Committee.

Dr. Razaghi, Chancellor of Shaheed Beheshti Medical University; Dr. Velayati, Director of NRITLD; Dr. Nasehi , NTP manager of Iran; Dr. Masjedi ,Secretary General of Iranian Stop TB Committee; and many physicians and TB Coordinators from all provinces of Iran attended this Congress.

The Congress started by honouring the memory of Dr. Abolhassan Zia Zarifi, Honorary Member of The Union, who passed away on 4 October 2010. Dr. Zia-Zarifi was an Iranian scientist, academic and author. He wrote, edited, and contributed to dozens of books, pamphlets, and scientific articles. His crowning success was the establishment of Iran's National Reference Laboratories as a centre for epidemiology and national standard setting.

Among the topics discussed in this CME course were the status of TB in the world and Iran, the strategy of the TB control programme in the world, tuberculosis in children, new methods of detecting MTB in infected children, BCG vaccination and imaging in pediatric tuberculosis, and adverse reactions to anti tuberculosis drugs. The ceremony was broadcast by IRIB and newspaper reporters.
