SATA Holds Annual D&D PDF Print E-mail
sataOn 27 November, SATA CommHealth (previously the Singapore Anti TB Association) organised its Annual Dinner or “D&D” as this dinner and dance is called in Singapore. Some 300 staff, partners, suppliers and SATA CommHealth Board Members were present to celebrate the achievements for 2010. The Union Asia Pacific Office staff also attended this important event.

The 2nd Conference of The Union Asia Pacific Region was held from 9 to 12 September 2009 in Beijing. The theme of the conference was “Prevention and Control of Multidrug-resistant Tuberculosis". More than 1,100 delegates attended the conference. Dr Nils E. Billo, Executive Director of the Union, and Dr Yin Li, Vice Minister of Health, spoke at the opening ceremony.

The Philippines TB Society Publishes a Study on TB Prevalence in Prisons PDF Print E-mail
In crowded settings like prisons, it is estimated that TB is 30 to 100 times more prevalent than in the general population. Aside from being a densely populated area, the prison environment has other factors that may contribute to these figures, such as the dynamics of this population and poor ventilation.
The Philippines Tuberculosis Society, Inc (PTSI) has been spearheading the research initiative on the prevalence of tuberculosis among prisoners and jail officers in six selected prisons in the Philippines.
