Two cities in China poised to pass smokefree laws PDF Print E-mail
Tianjin and Lanzhou have become the latest two cities to make significant progress in promoting local smokefree legislation in China.

The Legislative Affairs Committee of Tianjin’s People’s Congress approved "The Tobacco Control Regulation of Tianjin" on 8 October 2011, marking a milestone in the legislative process.

Operational Research Course Offered in Fiji Islands PDF Print E-mail

From 26–30 September, the Fiji Islands hosted module 1 of a three-module operational research course jointly run by The Union; the Fiji College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences (CMNHS); the World Health Organization (WHO); the Fiji National TB Control Programme (NTP), and supported by the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (The Global Fund).

Smoking Go Down, Awareness Goes Up in Guangzhou PDF Print E-mail

The Guangzhou Regulation on Smoking Control in Public Places took effect in September 2010, and it has already made an impact: the rate of smoking in public places has declined by 5.4%, and the smoking rate among the city’s citizens has decreased overall from 18.6% in 2009 to 17.4% in 2011.

Harbin Pioneers Strict Smokefree Law in China PDF Print E-mail

On 26 May, the Harbin People’s Congress voted and approved smokefree legislation for the city that will ban smoking in all indoor public places and workplaces.
